Our second episode of End Hits (listen to the first here) brings Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman to our dining table, discussing the finer points of high school rock and roll nostalgia, the unbelievably low sounds of Korn, and a previously unheard tale of Weinman’s first introduction to Trent Reznor.

Weinman is a bright, singular character in modern metal. His business acumen (a degree, a job with stock options) is matched only by the mind-boggling creativity he has displayed over the course of his career with Dillinger. As the band’s lone original member, he ties their frenetic past to their experimental present, literally keeping things tied together as the band’s manager. And if you’ve got a keen interest in that particular side of his career and another 45 minutes to kill after listening to this, an interview he did at Loyola University is a must-watch.
