Okay, I didn’t even know the Biebs HAD a record label, but apparently he and his swagger coach Scooter Braun have something called Schoolboy Records, and the latest signee is BC native Carly Rae Jepsen, a former Canadian Idol contestant.

You know what this means, right? THIS GIRL IS GOING TO BE HUGE. If you hate Justin Bieber, prepare to muster up all the vitrolic hellfire you’ve got inside your deep dark heart, and shoot it out of your tum-tum like the villainous psychotic antithesis to a Care Bear, because Carly Rae Jepsen is going to be everywhere you look in 6 months.

She’s just released a real ear-worm of a single in “Call Me Maybe” (produced by Josh Ramsay of Mariana’s Trench), which incidentally, is the first single by a Canadian artist to reach the top of the Digital Charts since Justin Bieber’s “Baby” in 2010. Oh, and she only came in 3rd place on Canadian Idol.
