Just a few days after the world (well, our small part of it) took notice that Disney was excitedly selling a Mickey Mouse t-shirt inspired by Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures album, it’s been taken it down while they “review the situation further.”

Before it was removed, the site read: “Inspired by the iconic sleeve of Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures album, this Waves Mickey Mouse Tee incorporates Mickey’s image within the graphic of the pulse of a star. That’s appropriate given few stars have made bigger waves than Mickey!”

“As soon as we became aware there could be an issue [the issue here probably being that the band came to an end with singer Ian Curtis’ suicide, maybe, that’s a hunch], we pulled it from our shelves and our online store to review the situation further,” a Disney representative said.

Too late, though: the shirt had sold out by Tuesday evening. [via Billboard]
