All the gossip surrounding whether or not Bloc Party was looking to replace singer Kele Okereke came to an unceremonious end today when Okereke took to BBC Radio to announce that the band’s next album would be out sometime this year.

According to Spin, Bloc Party has 2 songs finished with 17 more demos ready to go. Okereke talked to BBC about the album, commenting on the pressure—or lack thereof—of putting out new music after the band’s once astronomical hype and brief hiatus.

“We can do whatever we want now and people will come to it on its own terms,” he says.

Don’t get too excited, though. There’s still no title or timeline for this new album, which will be the band’s first since 2008’s Intimacy.
