New York rapper Azealia Banks hasn’t been shy about her career ambitions, so the fact that she’s now signed to Universal shouldn’t come as the biggest surprise.

“I want to do this thing, and I don’t even really know what the fuck ‘this thing’ is yet, but considering how ambitious my ideas are musically, I definitely need a label that will really get it out there,” she said in a recent Pitchfork interview. I’m not really scared of major labels. I just want to work where I’m allowed to make mistakes and do my own thing rather than get into a situation where someone else has their own agenda of what they want me to be.”

The “212” hitmaker announced her new deal over Twitter yesterday, and went on to Tweet what seemed like a Secret-esque wish list of other good things she wanted, like “Kanye West.” “I really wanna meet Lil Kim.” And “Rihanna is my best friend in my head too.”

But the sweetest? Planning what she’s going to buy her mom. “Lol, my mom says first thing I have to buy her with my money is this Sean John comforter set she’s been eyeing at Macy’s. Classic.”
