Kate Bush is incredibly reclusive. She hasn’t toured in over 30 years and lives in an isolated mansion atop a 100-foot cliff, not that these facts were enough to stop one 32-year-old man from flying halfway across the world to propose to the Hounds of Love singer.

According to the Daily Mail, New Yorker Frank Tufaro was caught breaking into Bush’s house (which is in England, by the way) earlier this month with a £3000 engagement ring in hand.

After noticing that Bush wasn’t home, Tufaro proceeded to sneak in through a window. His excuse? He thought he was going to freeze to death.

He was eventually caught by Bush’s neighbours, who called the police immediately. Because of the whole isolated house on a cliff thing, they didn’t get there right away, giving Tufaro a bit of time to snoop around and collect resources for the hair-doll he’s likely already made.

“I was inside for about eight minutes before I realised I had to leave,” said Tufaro, who says he felt like he was being set-up.

“I just walked around and looked at everything. It wasn’t what I expected,” he added.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Tufaro was held under Britain’s Mental Health Act until being deported back to New York, where he was then turned over to the FBI. Reports suggest that Tufaro flew to England over the holidays, where he stayed in a hotel and “danced around his luxury room in a tracksuit while singing along to hip-hop songs” before taking another short flight from London to Exeter and an expensive taxi ride to Devon, where Bush’s house is located.

Regardless of the outcome, Tufaro’s efforts were doomed from the start. Kate Bush has been with her husband for over a decade. They have a son together, 13-year-old Albert, whose birth largely prompted Bush’s last exodus from the public eye.
