To help promote their touring stint as Black Sabbath cover band Bat Sabbath, Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier recently sat down for an interview with…uh…himself. More specifically, an interview with himself where he’s posing as Doug, the host of fictional metal talk-show Doug’s Metal Zone. Put up by ExclaimTV, the conversation goes about as smooth as you’d expect, with a lot of odd back-and-fourth that eventually turns Doug from a Cancer Bats hater to a full supporter of the band. Doug also makes it a point to rag on Cormier’s straight-edge lifestyle, poking fun at the fact that he doesn’t smoke or drink.

AUX recently caught up with Cormier before this past Friday’s Bat Sabbath show in Toronto, and while he wouldn’t outright admit to being Doug, he did give us a pretty convincing imitation of the supposed talk show host’s gravelly voice.

“We have a similar vibe. He’s got great hair, I think that, but I’m not that metal,” said Cormier.
