When she’s not winning awards or captivating audiences with her music, Julie Doiron can be found in Toronto’s studios moonlighting as…a yoga instructor?

Doiron fell into the gig almost by accident, with BlogTO reporting that her first experiences led to illness and over-exhaustion. Still, she obviously stuck to it and got her teaching degree this past fall. Doiron apparently kept to the exercises after recognizing their versatility, a perfect fit for a touring musician.

“Music is a way of expressing myself. While yoga is a way to ground myself and remain positive on a day when I may otherwise not be,” she says.

As for her class, writer Kate Gobes says it’s a welcoming experience for beginners, calling an instant where Doiron “tucks” the class in with blankets “adorable”.

Doiron is currently teaching two classes every Monday, one at 9am, the other at 730pm, and with modest prices ($16 and PWYC), there’s certainly no harm in seeing whether her instructional chops match up to her musical acumen.
