At a time with bands are coming back for reunions and front-to-back album tours, Billy Corgan has come out and said that the Smashing Pumpkins will never be a nostalgia act.

“We refuse to be,” he told Kerrang. “That would be the true death of the Smashing Pumpkins.”

“I’ve said to people in the business – we won’t go out and make money by playing Siamese Dream in full. We’re not operating with that safety net. That isn’t an option. That’s off the table,” he added, conveniently ignoring the fact that the Smashing Pumpkins are currently celebrating the re-releases of two nearly twenty year old albums, 1991’s Gish and 1993’s Siamese Dream.

The Smashing Pumpkins are working towards the release of Oceania, their self-described “make it or break it” album expected out sometime next year.
