Watch the video for Ludacris' Drake/Big Sean diss, "Bada Boom"

When Drake claimed Ludacris had ripped off his (and Big Sean’s) flow back in 2010, the Toronto-born rapper passive-aggressively claimed it was cool because it proved he was an innovator. Evidently Ludacris didn’t take kindly to this, and now, months later, he’s hot on the response trail with “Bada Boom,” a come-back track that not so subtly calls out the former Degrassi star for his supposed arrogance.
The track’s video starts with both a sample from and interpretation of a scene from The Fifth Element, as a woman dressed like Leeloo (Milla Jovovich’s character in the film) sits and quickly scans through videos depicting the history of rap beefs and battles before a super-close shot of Luda’s finely cropped facial hair leads to some of his angriest rhymes since he told all of those bitches to get out of the way years back. Evidently the biggest beef with Drake’s quote wasn’t that he accused Ludacris of biting his style, but that he claimed it as his own.
For the uninitiated, the whole thing is silly. Drake first accused Ludacris of stealing his “hashtag rap” style of dishing out punchlines because of a single line (“Comin’ down the street like a parade/Macy’s!”) on the song “My Chick Bad.”
Listen closely to “Bada Boom” and you’ll hear Luda’s only direct response in the line “‘My Chick Bad’ went platinum, still winning motherfucker!”
The song is taken off Ludacris’ most recent mixtape, 1.21 Gigawatts: Back to the First Time. For what it’s worth, Big Sean tried to squash any potential beef as soon as “Bada Boom” first leaked, telling Seattle’s KUBE 93 radio station, “I ain’t got no problems with Luda, I never did. I think he’s referring to an interview I did over a year ago. Literally over a year ago, but in the interview I said he’s a legend.”
