Scott Weiland’s Christmas album came out of nowhere. Not just because nobody saw it coming, but because of how traditional and sanitized it was. But, according to an interview with the Sudbury Star, Weiland says the album could have been quite a bit more interesting. When asked if he’d ever consider doing a duet David Bowie/Bing Crosby-like duet of “White Christmas” with Michael Bublé, Weiland one-upped the paper by saying that he’d planned on doing a version of the song with Leonard Cohen.

“Actually, I did a version of that. And we were so close to having Leonard Cohen do the Bing part,” said Weiland. “We would have made a video of it and done it as a homage to the original. It was his touring schedule that kept it from happening.”

Weiland did end up making one video for The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. It’s for “Winter Wonderland” and, if you so choose, you can watch it up top. Just be warned: it’s eerie, like if someone put an old Sears Wishbook to music.
