Michele Bachmann responds to the Roots Late Night stunt, somehow lands on it being sexist

As funny as the Roots covering Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” for Michele Bachmann’s walk out was the other night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the inevitable fall out has happened, with the controversial politician somehow landing on the conclusion that the incident was sexist. Naturally (and understandably), she’s also demanding an apology.
Bachmann told Fox News that, had the Roots played such a song for Michelle Obama, then “NBC would have apologized to her and likely they could have fired the drummer, at least suspended him,” but since none of that happened, “[the incident] is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite but it’s also I think it’s sexism as well.”
While we’re not sure how Bachmann landed on it being sexist (because, while offensive, gender didn’t really factor into the cover), we’ll at least concede to the Roots’ song choice being less than a stellar choice. According to Questlove, they landed on the song themselves, performing it to the surprise of everyone else involved with the show, including Fallon himself.
“The show was not aware of it and I feel bad if her feelings were hurt. That was not my intention,” said the drummer to ABC.
Though he’s since been “grounded” by Fallon for the incident, we can report, happily, that the Roots are still employed by NBC. If you missed the incident, watch the video up top. Check out the original song below.
