After a ten year hiatus, the Cranberries are back with their first new single, “Show Me the Way,” and while it isn’t quite as infectious as that one song they had, the song appeals to the ’90s nostalgia in all of us, relying on Dolores O’Riordan’s unmistakable voice and the band’s typical mid-paced take on alternative rock. Only, hey, is that a violin! Fancy!

In all seriousness, for a lot of us “Zombie” defined the awkward time when we were just getting into music enough to burn out of it. With “Show Me the Way,” the Cranberries hope to have the same effect on a new generation. Or, more specifically, the old generation’s kids. Listen to the track below and, if you just can’t get it out of your head-ee-ead-ead, fill out the fancy little box to get a free MP3 copy of the song. Roses, the first Cranberries album since 2001’s Wake Up and Smell the Coffee is out on Valentine’s Day 2012.
