Kirk Hammett says 'Lulu' is one of the best things Metallica has ever done

As bad as their upcoming collaboration with Lou Reed is sounding, Metallica is still insisting that it’s going to rock, this time with guitarist Kirk Hammett telling Revolver that Lulu is “one of the best things” the band has ever done. Actually, that kind of makes sense when you put it in the perspective of a nine-album career where only two of them are still worth listening to.
“We haven’t been spontaneous like that for years and years and years, probably since the ’80s,” said Hammett, who later implied that those who don’t like the album are probably just listening to it wrong.
“All I have to say is don’t judge it by heavy-metal standards and maybe you’ll understand it better.”
Lulu comes out at the end of the month. Then, hopefully, we can stop talking about it.
