Flaming Lips may be creeping close to being a stunt band (six-hour songs! TWENTY-FOUR HOUR SONGS! Weird toys!) but they’re at least unendingly creative too, right?

One of the next areas of focus for Wayne Coyne and crew is next year’s Record Store Day release, for which they’re hoping to compile collaborations they’ve done or are looking to do. That’ll include the one with Death Cab for Cutie that was spontaneously planned when Coyne busted up an interview Spinner was doing with Death Cab earlier this summer, tracks with Neon Indian, Ghostland Observatory, Cloudland Canyon, and Nick Cave, and hopeful collaborations with Ke$ha and Lykke Li.

“I am bound to the agreements we have with the other artists because we’re doing all of this as limited editions,” Coyne told Billboard. “They’re trusting us not just to sound cool but handle the music with special care.”
