New Pornographers slam Progressive Conservatives for using their music in campaigns

Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak has been working on a hip indie rock image, playing the New Pornographers‘ “Moves” at the end of current campaign speeches. But to probably no surprise, the band is totally not cool with it.

A.C. Newman blasted off a series of tweets starting last night and is still discussing it today, and to a lesser extent, Neko Case got involved as well. Even amidst Newman’s clear disapproval, he has a sense of humour about it too:

According to the Globe, PC officials said that “while they didn’t see any issues with using songs in their campaigns, they’d likely stop if someone made a direct request.” But judging by this tweet, Newman may be reconsidering the benefits of his new fan:
