As chaotic as their music can be, and as violent as their live shows are, Dillinger Escape Plan aren’t evil dudes, and in a pretty remarkable spurt of charity have decided to auction off one of their trashed floor toms for charity. More specifically, they’re hoping to help pay for former Deftones bassist Chi Ling Cheng’s medical bills.

Chi’s been in a near comatose state since an accident in 2008, and while his condition has shown signs of improvement—he can track people with his eyes, make slight movements with his hands and say the occasional word—his medical bills are piling up. That’s where Dillinger comes in: as is a tradition for them, they trashed drummer Billy Ryner’s kit at the end of their tour with the Deftones, ultimately stabbing through its floor tom with a drum stick.

And now, in the hopes of helping an old friend out, that floor tom (and the drum stick) are up for auction. It’s been signed by every one in the band along, but there’s only an hour or so left in the auction, which is set to end just after 12P p.m. EST. If you’ve got some extra cash and feel like helping out you can head over here to bid.

If you’d like to help but don’t have hundreds of dollars to help, head over to http://oneloveforchi.com/ to make a smaller donation. Every little bit helps.
