Well here’s a fun summer project: Tokyo Police Club will be heading to L.A. on Monday (August 15) to start their covers project, which will see them record ten songs over ten days, premiering each one via a different outlet each morning after recording. Got that? Okay cool. The full song premiere schedule/map is below.

The covers project will feature songs from 2001 to 2010. In a press release, vocalist/bassist Dave Monks said, β€œWe like anything that helps us grow as a band and take on new territories and just expand our boundaries a bit. In covering songs, you learn new tools that you might want to use in your own songsβ€”good drum fills and basslines…the trading cards of music.”

The band will also be creating daily Polaroid photo diaries and filming the entire recording process (Livestream.com will be show some footage each day between 7pm-8pm PST). And because Polaroid is not done getting their name all over this thing yet, each song will feature unique artwork based on an instant photo* taken that day in the studio.

The band plans to eventually package all 10 songs with other exclusive goodies from the project.
