Noel Gallagher is gearing up for the release of his horribly named solo venture Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and the hype is slowly building. So what if that hype’s from his mommy? During an interview on a British radio show, Gallagher mentioned that he’d been playing the album for friends and associates and that they’d all dug it. He went on to tell radio host Christian O’Connell about one particularly impressive compliment, “I played it to a person, they said, ‘Good God, that’s so good, that’s probably the best stuff you’ve ever done, this easily puts you in the same bracket at (David) Bowie, (Sir Paul) McCartney and Elvis Costello.’ And do you know who said that? My mum.”

In other Gallagher news, the brothers Liam and Noel are about to be reunited…in court. Liam has filed a lawsuit against his brother for “lying” about the band’s break-up and about an incident back in 2009 when Noel told fans Oasis had to cancel a gig because his brother had a hangover.

“Noel also falsely stated that the demise of Oasis followed a massive row in which he claimed I demanded to advertise my clothing range Pretty Green in the Oasis tour program,” Gallagher added. “The truth is there was no such discussion or row between us. There are many reasons why Oasis split. But it had nothing to do with my clothing range,” says Liam.

“I am used to being called all sort of things by Noel and I have in the past said things about him, but what Noel has alleged this time went way beyond rock-and-roll banter and questioned my professionalism.”

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is out 17 October 2011. Brother Noel hasn’t commented on the lawsuit, but if history’s taught us anything, you can expect something bitchy some time in the near future. [via RS, OMGWire]
