When Amy Winehouse was tragically found dead back on July 23rd, early reports suggested that the troubled singer was finally working towards sobriety. According to Winehouse’s family, toxicology reports released today suggest that might have been the truth.

Though alcohol was found in her system, Winehouse’s family has released a statement which says that “[t]oxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death.”

Mitch Winehouse had said shortly after his daughter’s death that Amy had “conquered” her drugs and was working on her addiction to alcohol.

The statement goes on to thank the police and coroners for their ongoing investigations, adding that the family looks forward to the outcome of the formal inquiry into her death. The inquest is set for October. [via the Telegraph]

In other Winehouse news, Martin McCann, the scumbag who bought the “AmyWinehouseFoundation.com” domain before the family could snatch it up, is still apparently refusing to give up the name.

McCann tells UK Tabloid the Sun that he’s “not exploiting anything yet,” the key word there being “yet”.

“Detach yourself from emotions and think business. He [Mitch Winehouse] is making every effort to hijack this charity to satiate his own needs for the charity. She’s not the only Amy Winehouse in the world,” said McCann, Monty Burns-ian grin presumably in check.
