Lady Gaga apparently wants to play Amy Winehouse in a movie

Hollywood gossip rags are reporting that Lady Gaga is in secret talks to star as Amy Winehouse in an upcoming biopic of the recently deceased singer’s life. Commenting on how Gaga was apparently “inundated” with scripts after her length world tour ended, one insider says “there’s only ever been one role she wants and that’s to play Amy.”

Amy Winehouse was found dead two weeks ago, so we can therefore assume Gaga’s acting aspirations are still in their infancy. Continuing the report, which is obviously not a publicity stunt at all, another insider (or maybe it’s the same one, these things can be pretty vague) goes on to say that “GaGa’s been itching to make the transition from music into movies and sees this as the ideal role to launch her film career.”

After hearing of Winehouse’s death, Gaga was apparently “shocked” into two days of silence. The two were rumoured to be working together on Winehouse’s planned comeback and, as you may or may not know, “Exploitation” is the oft-unreported sixth stage of grief in the Kübler-Ross model.

Winehouse’s final recording, a duet with Tony Bennett, will be released in September. Titled “Body and Soul,” all reports from the single will reportedly go towards the recently established Amy Winehouse foundation (which, it was announced today, will take up headquarters in Winehouse’s former estate and eventually serve as a rehabilitation facility).
