Family and friends of deceased singer Amy Winehouse gathered at Edgwarebury Cemetery in London this morning for a private 45-minute service, which was led by Rabbi Frank Hellner and included a eulogy by her father Mitch that ended with: “Goodnight, my angel, sleep tight. Mummy and Daddy love you ever so much.”

Winehouse was found dead this past weekend in her London home. A post-mortem examination that took place yesterday proved inconclusive with results of the toxicology tests expected to emerge sometime in the next four weeks.

A spokesperson for the family said during the service Winehouse’s father “told some great stories from childhood about how headstrong she was. He stressed so many times she was happier now than she had ever been and he spoke about her boyfriend and paid tribute to a lot of people in her life.”

Prayers were read aloud in Hebrew and English and the service ended with a rendition of Carole King’s “So Far Away,” apparently one of the deceased’s favorites and one that she used to sing with her dad.

Winehouse’s body was then taken Golders Green crematorium where fans and photographers lined the streets at the North London location to say their final goodbye’s. She was 27-years-old. [BBC]
