Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix in upcoming biopic?

If this turns out to be bogus we only have actress Hayley Atwell to blame. She recently was interviewed by Esquire Magazine and told them she might be starring in a new Jimi Hendrix biopic alongside Andre 3000 who would be assuming the leading role as the legendary axe man.

“Next up is possibly a Jimi Hendrix biopic—an independent film with Andre 3000 from OutKast playing Jimi Hendrix,” the actress said following the release of her latest project Captain America, which comes out in two weeks.

The rapper/singer-songwriter, whose real name is André Lauren Benjamin, is no stranger to the big screen and has apparently been campaigning for a Hendrix biopic since 2004. Benjamin was previously in Guy Ritchie’s Revolver, Scary Movie 4, and Semi-Pro alongside Will Ferrell.

A potential biopic about Hendrix was scrapped late last year after the guitarists’ family estate pulled the plug when producers, including Paul Greengrass (Bloody Sunday, United 93), proceeded to develop a script without their permission.
