Amy Winehouse has died, with British media reporting that the singer’s body was found today at her Camden apartment.

Police have yet to confirm the cause of death, but it’s not thought to be suspicious. Whether drugs were involved (as the Daily Mirror has suggested) or not, tragedy is a tragedy regardless of her troubled past.

Amy Winehouse was 27, making her the latest member of the tragically named “27 Club,” joining the likes of Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Janis Joplin and other troubled musicians who died three years shy of 30.

Her death leaves a void in popular music—for all her troubles—health, substance or otherwise—she was still one hell of a talent. Winehouse was, in spite of recent concert cancellations, in the midst of attempting a comeback.
