If we’re being honest, it’s difficult for us to not post just about every video from the Onion A.V. Club’s Undercover series, a video project now in its second year in which 25 bands cover 25 songs in The A.V. Club office. They’re all always so good, and we just love us a good novelty cover song.

We don’t post them all, however, because that would be too much. The latest, though, is from Toronto’s very own Sloan, so we thought we’d exploit the occasion by sharing it with you (even though those good-for-nothin’s over at A.V. Club aren’t so nice to Toronto! Just kidding, love you A.V. Club.). It’s so good. The band switches from their most common configuration to feature Chris Murphy on drums instead of bass, Jay Ferguson on bass instead of guitar, and Andrew Scott on guitar instead of drums, with Patrick Pentland still helming the axe and taking the vocal lead on this one.

Sloan is currently on tour in the U.S. in support of their most recent, 20th anniversary album, The Double Cross. You can watch their excellent cover of “Cars” above.
