We’ve already heard the first single “Calgary” from the upcoming Bon Iver sophomore album, and its subtle richness is evident again on the second track we’re hearing from the album, “Perth.”
Even if iTunes already accidentally leaked the whole album when the first single went on sale, this proves yet again that Bon Iver is worth waiting for, and is going to take its time fully unraveling. “Perth” is quiet but complicated, peaceful, and tense, opening with a swirl of distorted guitars and ramping up with rat-a-rat drums into a big chorus-worthy pile of vocals and crashing percussion. There’s a lot going on here—take your time with the song above.
