Writer Chuck Klosterman has gone insane(er). Just kidding, but check out this mathematical evaluation he’s done to figure out the importance of Albert Hammond Jr. to the Strokes.

Using a baseball statistics tool called VORP (but turned, of course, into VORM–Value Over Replacement Musician), Klosterman has used metrics such as songwriting, visual impact, attitude, and others, to rank the importance of a musician to an overall band. His score? 27. No idea what that means but he’s apparently less important that Julian (duh), who ranked a 41.

Read the whole weird/amazing thing here and try your own calculations! When Klosterman refers in the article to the human race “killing it,” he must be referring to himself. He’s just killllliinng it.
