The Strokes follow up yesterday's mysterious tease with new music.
Strokes fans were salivating yesterday when the band started teasing something called Future Past Present, which today has been revealed as their new EP. But not ones to half ass it (this time), Julian Casablancas premiered a new song, “Oblivius,” this morning on his Sirius XMU radio show.
The teasers came quick yesterday, with billboards popping up in London and New York, and today a website mentioned by Casablancas popped up with a slew of pre-order options, confirming that the album is finished, and seemingly pressed and ready for release.
We can’t confirm the release date yet, but we can confirm that there is a new Strokes song, below, and that the Twitter reactions to it have fans feeling “some type of way.”
What type of way? That’s for you to decide. Personally? It kind of sounds like a Muse cover.
Future Past Present will be the band’s first release since 2013’s Countdown Machine. According to Consequence of Sound, all three songs off the EP will be on CultRecords later today.
