If you’ve ever gazed wistfully out a car window feeling especially ponderous and felt like “hey, I feel like I’m in a Death Cab for Cutie video,” well, now you sort of are.

The band’s new video for “Home Is A Fire” is a collection of sights seen passing by rather quickly, many of them streetscapes, buildings; most of them depressing. The video is a collaboration between graphic/street artist Shepard Fairey (who became best known for his Obama “Hope” design) and the band’s bassist Nick Harmer.

Many custom-made stencils appear throughout, and though the video is thoughtful and elaborate, this song is the sparest of the singles to be heard yet from the upcoming album Codes and Keys, which will be out (and which we’re still unreasonably looking forward to hearing) on May 31.
