A new film chronicling the ’74-’76 era of legendary punk club CBGB is set to start filming later this year, according to the Hollywood Reporter. During this time especially, the club became an incubator for some of the most seminal New York punk artists, including the Talking Heads, Patti Smith, and of course, the Ramones.
It’s said to focus on the club’s late owner, Hilly Kristal, and his daughter Lisa is on board as one of the producers. Because of her network of connections, licensing for music for the film isn’t likely to be a problem. No firm dates are in place yet, but the film is said to start filming later this year.
