The reunited A Perfect Circle are heading out this summer for a full-fledged North American tour and according to guitarist Billy Howerdel, a new album, which would be their first since 2004’s Emotive, is “in the works” and might be released later this year.

“We’re going to have at least one new song on the tour,” Howerdel told Rock News Desk. “It’s very close to being done, and from there, things could come together. Once we’re on the road and start hashing through our ideas, they could quickly become a song and make it onto the stage.”

“So there’s an album in the works, but not for this summer,” he continued. “The idea was to get the juices flowing a bit and get back into A Perfect Circle mode, and go from there. But we do intend to record new material.”

The band was on a six-year hiatus that ended last year with a string of shows where they performed material from their three studio LPs in full. View the upcoming Canadian tour dates below.

July 2 – Boonstock Music Festival – Gibbons

July 4 – Centennial Concert Hall – Winnipeg

July 9 – Edgefest – Toronto
