The currently untitled biopic about late singer Jeff Buckley will be directed by Jake Scott, son of famed English director/producer Ridley Scott. The younger Scott has previously worked on music videos by Oasis, Radiohead, and The Strokes.
Michelle Sy and Orian Williams will produce the film alongside Buckley’s mother Mary Guibert, with a script written by Ryan Jaffe (The Rocker). Author David Browne, who wrote the book Dream Brother: The Lives and Music of Jeff and Tim Buckley, will also be on hand as a consultant.
The film’s producers are currently sorting out finances in hopes of starting production this fall.
Buckley died on May 29, 1997. His death was ruled an accidental drowning. [Deadline]
