Paul McCartney to appear on upcoming Steve Martin record

In what could be the greatest collaboration since Shatner met Nimoy, Sir Paul McCartney has made a guest appearance on Steve Martin’s upcoming bluegrass album, Rare Bird Alert, which hits shelves on June 13.

Both The Beatles veteran and The Dixie Chicks perform on the funnyman’s record, which follows 2009’s debut, The Crow: New Songs for the 5 String Banjo, an album that earned the comedian and The Steep Canyon Rangers some serious musical kudos. [via NME]
