A few weeks after the release of Radiohead’s eighth album The King of Limbs, fans began speculating (or starting rumors) that another album, The King of Limbs Pt. 2, would be released. Guitarist Ed O’Brien has now put all those theories to bed.

The band will release two new tracks (“The Butcher” and “Supercollider”) for a special Record Store Day single, but according to O’Brien, they are songs which were previously written.

“The Butcher is from the King Of Limbs sessions,” he revealed. “Supercollider was recorded during that period and finished off after the album came out.

“There are [other] songs that we have started, that we never finished, but there’s not like seven or eight finished songs waiting in the wings to be released now, or in the autumn, or something. When we start a new record, we tend to start afresh. It’s kind of an evolutionary thing – only the fittest survive.”

Fan website At Ease has managed to get a copy of the Record Store Day single and has posted snippets of both tracks online. [6 Music]
