Final LCD Soundsystem show to be officially released on DVD

Well, this was probably inevitable: the fantastic and emotional final show that James Murphy and his LCD Soundsystem crew performed at Madison Square Garden a couple of weeks ago will be released as a concert DVD.

A stream of the full show went up on YouTube but has (again, inevitably) since been taken down, and when a fan on the LCD Soundsystem Facebook mourned that she hadn’t had a chance to see it and wished for an official released, the band had this to say:

Aside from the big show of saying goodbye, Murphy keeps going: LCD Soundsystem put a Franz Ferdinand cover online just yesterday as a preview for their upcoming Record Store Day release, and two days ago, it was announced that James Murphy would be doing a DJ set at the Sonar Festival in Barcelona this June. As far as we’re concerned, he can keep it coming. [via Consequence of Sound]
