With so much drama surrounding Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest, you can understand the shock resonating from member’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad appearance at the documentary’s premiere last night – especially since he sat out of Sundance and later vented to MTV.

However, the rapper told Rolling Stone that he was there to “support and respect” the endeavour as well as to represent the peace now defining the previously feuding group.

Ali went on to explain that the film has the band’s blessing, and that “just because Q-Tip is not here doesn’t mean he’s not in support of the film.” So worry not: if they weren’t happy with the documentary, Ali assures that “no one would be seeing the film.”

You can catch Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest at Hot Docs in May.
