Oh man, Record Store Day is so overwhelming if you let it be. Officially founded in 2007 and happening annually on the third Saturday of April, the store is meant to be a celebration of the art of music and the independent music retailers that still house and sell it, and every year an increasing number of bands participate in releasing limited edition singles and albums, launch the release of wider-release music, and do intimate in-store performances.

This year, with the list of releases already large and growing, a couple more have been announced that might be worth lining up for: a re-issue of Nirvana’s limited Hormoaning EP, previously officially available only on the band’s 1992 Australian/Japan tour, limited to 6,000 copies; Sonic Youth’s Whores Moaning EP (see what they did there? With the title? And the Nirvana EP? This one also has an original Kurt Cobain drawing on the artwork), originally released in 1993; and the Rolling Stones will release a replication seven-inch single of their first single “Brown Sugar”/“Bitch”/“Let It Rock.”

Keep an eye on RecordStoreDay.com for a complete list of limited releases.
