It’s been a while since Billy Corgan released a track from the Smashing Pumpkins’ momentous 44-track album Teargarden By Kaleidyscope, so today he debuted a new song called “Lightning Strikes”.

According to Corgan the track was originally written for The Electric Prunes, “but I found an element in it that suggested a bigger picture, and unfortunately I stole it back from them. The lyric in my mind combines the isolation of modern life with the need for a never ending romantic story.”

The ’90s alternative rock vet has dedicated the song to The Electric Prunes’ bassist Mark Tulin, who recently passed away, and to all Pumpkins fans in Japan. You can listen to “Lightning Strikes” below or download it tomorrow from the band’s website.
