At the end of each week, #Top40Tweets lists a cross-section of artists on the current pop charts and puts their tweets on display (along with their current chart number) for your enjoyment/scrutiny. This week, we look at 5 artists on the Billboard Hot 100.

#91: Justin Bieber – Pray

The Twitterverse exploded yesterday, with the recent news of Bieber’s stance on abortion. Misquoted or not, I think it was pretty evil of writer Vanessa Grigoriad to put him in that position. If someone interviewed me at 16, I’d still be face-palming 10 years later about the widespread controversy regarding my stance on why Zach de la Rocha should run for “President of the World.”

Worth Following?: Yes. Don’t get caught up in his politics, just live vicariously through a sixteen year-old who spends more more money on a haircut than I have in my chequing account.

#51: Ke$ha – Blow

On first glance, you might think that was the title to Ke$ha’s new single. I wouldn’t put it past her, except that I know better thanks to my recent River Monsters binge on Netflix. Now you can watch what the celebs watch for only $8 a month! #imbeddedadvertising #gimmefreenetflix

Worth Following?: Yes. Dangle a bottle of bourbon on a fishing rod, toss it in the river, and see how many glitter fish you can bring in. #Ke$hoftheday

#73: Dev feat. The Cataracs – Bass Down Low

So do I. Hustlin’ > Like a G6, every day of the week.

Worth Following?: No. Her Twitter presence is super annoying, because she’s always making up words, or inventing abbreviations. Kinda like a poor man’s Ke$ha. I can’t believe I’m even saying that. The Tik-Tok clock is ticking, Dev. You’re 2 or 3 years away from being a stewardess on that same G6. And you won’t be getting “slizzard” anymore. You’ll be getting “yelled at” by a lady who wants “won’t turn off her blackberry.”

#18: Jay Sean – Hit The Lights

Cee Lo as a peacock? Lady Gaga in an egg? Tweeting about the Grammys? #BIRDHUMOUREXPLOSION

Worth Following?: Undecided. Jay Sean has two cool things going for him. One, he’s a part of Young Money. Two, he’s from the UK. That said, his music is equal parts bland and derivative. Let’s consult the internet,  shall we?

“Q: Is Jay Sean cool?

A: Yes, but he is normal.”

Then it is settled. I love Answers.com.

#19: Nicki Minaj – Moment 4 Life

I couldn’t have said it better myself, girl. HOW U GON BREAK HER SEEING GLASSES, RON-RON? #BarbzNKenzLuvJerseyShore

Worth Following?: Yes. Whether you’re #TeamRon or #TeamSam (or #TeamBREAKUPALREADY), can’t we agree that we’re all #TeamNicki? Barbz ‘n Kenz unite. Also, make sure you check out the least tasteful drum fill of all time in this video of Nicki on Letterman from a while back. What was that drummer thinking? Forward to 3:15 for the good stuff.
