In the latest issue of NME, Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas admits to there being some tension in the band during the recording of their new album.

According to the article, when the band went into New York’s Avatar studios to begin work on the new album, they did so without him present. “I think I just wanted to wait until they’d done their thing, so that I could do mine,” the singer told the magazine. “I just want to have a creative, constructive, fun conversation. And I just think that, for whatever reason, we never pulled that off and there was resentment.”

Clearly not enough to halt recording altogether, as the band completed Angles in guitarist Albert Hammond Jr’s home studio. Bands will be bands, and Angles will be out on March 22.
