The cover art for Smashing Pumpkins’ sophomore album Siamese Dream has been one of the most widely recognized album covers since its release in 1993. But only now has the identity of the two girls in the picture come to light.

While Billy Corgan has been out releasing Pumpkins tracks online as part of the Teargarden by Kaleidyscope album, yesterday he posted on his Twitter that the band’s current bassist, Nicole Fiorentino, is actually one of the girls on the Siamese Dream cover.

He didn’t mention which one of the two was Fiorentino (and Billy Corgan is crazy, so who even knows if it’s true), but apparently the bassist, who is a former member of Veruca Salt, didn’t tell anyone because “she thought maybe we wouldn’t let her be in the band.”

Fiorentino is Smashing Pumpkins’ fourth bassist and second since the band reformed in 2007.
