Arcade Fire, Crystal Castles, and Justin Bieber take home NME Awards

Last night the Shockwaves NME Awards celebrated its 58^th year at the O2 Academy Brixton in London, England. The majority of the awards were decided via fan votes on the magazine’s website. Arcade Fire, Crystal Castles, and Justin Bieber made for the Canadian winnings at the British event, as Arcade Fire took another Best Album award (accepting via video message this time). Crystal Castles made off with the John Peel Award for Innovation while the Biebs was deemed Least Stylish and also had the Worst Album.

Muse won the Best British Band award and front man (and Kate Hudson baby daddy) Matt Bellamy was given the Sexiest Male prestige.

Arcade Fire was up for four awards, losing out on Best International Band, Best Live Band, and Best Video. Foals were in a similar boat, nominated for five awards but also only getting one, taking the Best Song award for “Spanish Sahara.”

Other fan-voted winners include Laura Marling, Hurts, Biffy Clyro, My Chemical Romance, Klaxons, Alison Mosshart, and more. Dave Grohl was awarded the Godlike Genius while PJ Harvey got the Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution to Music. There were also awards in television, film and festivals.

My Chemical Romance, PJ Harvey, Hurts, Crystal Castles and the Foo Fighters played the ceremony.
