This morning's new music news; John Lydon has revealed that Public Image Ltd. will release a new album sometime this year, Dallas Green and Shad have collaborated on a new single and Amy Winehouse will play new tunes at a few gigs in Brazil this month.

According to frontman John Lydon, Public Image Ltd. will release a new album this year, but said fans must wait as he is still coping with the loss of his step-daughter Ari Up. “I would have been recording with PiL, but after that happened … there’s just no way I could have gone into a recording studio,” Lydon said. “I have to come to grips with all that and start working again when I’m good and ready. I hope people can respect that. My wife … you know, Ari was her only daughter. I just can’t leave her alone with the grief right now.” [Stereogum]

Dallas Green and Shad have collaborated on a new single due out January 11. “I’ve always wanted to sing the hook on a hip-hop jam… you know, to be the Mary J. Blige to someone’s Method Man,” Green said. “Shad gave me that chance. He is my favourite rapper. He raps better than most people speak. I’m proud to sing on a track with him.” [Exclaim!]

And Amy Winehouse will be performing new material at a few comeback gigs in Brazil this month. Her last album Back To Black was released in 2006. [NME]
