It was announced last year that Johnny Depp would be directing a new documentary about Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. Recently the actor has revealed that although he’s amassed a lot of footage, the project still needs work.

“Any time that he’s got a minute, any time I’ve got a minute. We’ve done one, let’s say, installment that was fairly intense,” Depp told Entertainment Weekly. “We shot for a few days, and we got 35 hours of footage. That’s me and Keith sitting and talking in a room that’s very, you know, apropos of Keith. We’re sitting on couches, having a drink, and talking.”

As well as interviews with Richards and other musicians such as Patti Smith and Nora Jones, the as-yet-untitled documentary will feature footage of some of the guitarist’s performances with his band the X-Pensive Winos.

“I think we’ve probably got two more installments [to film] and then we’ll start cutting it together,” Depp added. No release date has been set, however a theatrical release is expected.
