Since 2007’s Era Vulgaris, Queens of the Stone Age members have pursued other side projects such as Them Crooked Vultures, Mini Mansions and Hello=Fire, however guitarist Dean Fertita recently revealed to Billboard that Queens will be recording a new album in January.

“Everybody seems excited and ready to go,” Fertita said. We’ve got so many ideas started already; I guess we’ll see what turns out to be everybody’s favorite. It’s very much still (Josh Homme’s) band, but I think all of us really feel like we’ve found our space in it and can contribute to it as well.”

Since forming in the late ’90s after Kyuss split up, Queens have released five studio albums. This past year the band re-issued their sophomore album Rated R as a two CD deluxe edition, which featured six B-sides as well as live recordings from their set at the Reading Festival in 2000.
