Shapeshifting is an appropriate title for Young Galaxy‘s upcoming third album (to be released Fed. 8th, 2011 via Paper Bag Records).  Going from an art-rock band hitting epic highs with their previous work, to a band channeling their love of New Order, the Knife and the Eurythmics.  The result is unlike anything the four-piece have done before.  The material was recorded in Montreal, then sent away to Dan Lissvik of Studio in Sweden to be curved, refashioned, made and remade over 9 months.  The finished record hits “cold reverb, hot drums and synth” and might be the right kind of change for this band in their career.

Young Galaxy will bring their new songs on tour beginning in 2011, but in the meantime check out Peripheral Visionaries.  I’d put this on a mixtape right beside Washed Out, The XX and Chris Isaak. Killer mixtape eh?
