Thom Yorke’s god-like status doesn’t exactly come as a surprise, but like a musically-relevant game of Simon Says, the Radiohead frontman got 2000 fans to stand out in the wind and rain to form a “human sculpture” in hopes of saving the planet. Kind of.

Called through Radiohead’s website, the volunteers worked to form an outline of the 11th Century Viking King Canute (which you might recall as the image on Yorke’s solo album, Eraser) in hopes of sending a message to politicians currently attending UN climate talks in Cancun.

The environmentally-charged standing sculpture flash-dance equivalent was just one of many displays organized around the globe, and in a press release, Yorke explained that “the plan is to make images visible from the skies to remind those in Cancun that we can’t keep putting this off”.

A touching sentiment, but something tells us it’d be much more newsworthy if the plan had ultimately been revealed through Wikileaks.
