The Wilderness Machine part of The Wilderness Downtown, Chris Milk’s acclaimed music video project featuring Arcade Fire’s “We Used To Wait,” is currently on display at the WIRED pop-up store in New York City.

Combining analog mechanics with HTML5 and Google technology, viewers can type in the address of their childhood home and then watch a music video containing the Arcade Fire track along with shots of their old street and surrounding area.

The machine generates postcards created online by those who have submitted entries at The Wilderness Downtown website. The postcards come printed on seeded paper and when planted grow into birch trees.
