This ain’t no sci-fi flick, but a trip back to the early days of rock ‘n’ roll.  The invaders were pioneering white southern DJs who dared to play “race” music which we now regard as the blues.  That music seized the imagination of white kids who blossomed into the first rock ‘n’ roll stars.  In the age of hip hop, we take the blending of musical forms for granted these days, but back then it was threatening.  These DJs and this music were as dangerous as aliens attacking from outer space.

Rock-n-Roll Invaders celebrates the men who spun the hot wax, from DJ Alan Freed whose career ended in a fatal payola scandal, to Alan Freed whose career survived and even flourished in decades to come.  This movie tells the glorious but tragic tale of the birth of rock ‘n’ roll.
