Watch Global Metal tonight at 9pm ET on AUX Docs.

Directors Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn celebrate that bastard sub-genre of rock music called heavy metal in the follow-up to one of the most celebrated rock docs of recent years.  In this sequel to Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey, Dunn acts like a musical anthropologist as he crosses Asia, South America and the Middle East in search of headbangers.  Just imagine Iranian power chords and Indonesian death metal and you’ll see that metal is what unites the world.  Well, some of it.

Brazil’s Sepultura Max insists that Brazillian bands find their own sound and not ape the Yanks.  Across the globe, 30,000 Indians enjoy their first metal gig.  Another highlight is Dunn confronting Lars Ulrich the internet/download question.

There are further interviews with Tom Araya (Slayer), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) and Max Cavalera (Sepultura) and high-decibel clips from the likes of Orphan Land (Israel), Painkiller (Indonesia), X-Japan and Sigh (Japan), and Ritual Day (China).

Crank it up, kids.
